Why

by Alex Lawton

Why.
The word
That I would just like to know,
To grasp.
The simple word that could explain
The whole world.
My world.
Why did you have to take me on a journey
Through my best times
And leave me.
Take my deepest breath
Knock the wind out of me.
And I’m gone.
With you.
Gone.
But not alone
For you stand beside me
Not always, but forever.
And I, beside you.
Withdrawn from vision
Bust sense you.
And in my rush
Of everything,
You told me
To pause, to think, to appreciate
Everything.
Everyone.
You.
For I know you’re here
Step after step
Saying take the good
And leave the bad
and walk my path.
